Plot: This is a biopic on the life of Napoleon with Christian Clavier in the title role. Depardieu plays the minister of police Joseph Fouché, John Malkovich plays Tallyrand, Isabella Rossellini plays Josephine and Kenneth Branagh plays Tsar Alexander. The film covers Napoleon's life "from his first rise to power to his exile on Saint Helena" and is based on the 4-volume novel by Max Gallo.
Production Info: The picture is in production for 24 weeks starting June, 2001. It's being filmed in French and English simultaneously and is a co-production between several French, German and U.S. TV production companies as well as Depardieu's production company. The screenplay is written by Didier Decoin, who penned the screenplays for Count of Monte Christo, Balzac and Les Misérables.
