A Scandinavian film, to be shot in English, based on Herbjorg Wassmo's best-selling novel, Dina's Book (1989). Directed by Ole Bornedal (Nightwatch). Cast: Gérard Depardieu, Maria Bonnevie (The 13th Warrior), Pernilla August, Hans Matheson (Les Miserables) and Mads Mikkelson
Plot: Described as a gothic romance, this is the story of a young girl left traumatized after accidentally causing her mother's death. Pernilla August will play the mother. The girl eventually grows into a sensual young woman (Bonnevie) who lives by her own rules. The story is set in 1840's Norway. Depardieu is said to play Dina's husband.
