(Italy) Directed by Rachid Benhadj Cast: Karim Benhadj (as Mirka), Barbara Bobulová, Gérard Depardieu, Vanessa Redgrave, Sergio Rubini
Plot: In the Balkans the people are the victims of long-term violence. Mirka is a child of that violence -- the child of an ethnic rape. Normally such children are killed in order to prevent the infiltration of the enemy's bloodlines. But Mirka is saved by his grandmother (Redgrave). Ten years later, Mirka's presence, and his rumored parentage, causes anger and upheaval in the village. When things go badly they blame it on Mirka and want to kill the child. Meanwhile, Mirka only wants his mother's recognition and love. Depardieu plays Strix, a hermit bird-catcher, who befriends Mirka. Rubini plays the fiancé of Mirka's mother, who sets out to destroy the child. Based on real events in the Balkans.
Because of the important message of this film, well-known actors Redgrave, Depardieu and Rubini participated. Franco Nero has a cameo.
