Last update 3/10/01

(France)  This is a documentary about the Cannes film festival, directed by Giles Nadeau.

Cast:
Woody Allen, Michael Douglas, Alain Delon, Gérard Depardieu, many other stars

Plot
This documentary sets out to retrace the history of the film festival, from its modest beginnings in 1946 to its present day status as a major international cinema event. Directors, producers, jury members, distributors and film stars describe their lasting impressions of Cannes and share their thoughts about its future. Numerous archive excerpts in counterpoint recall the great moments of the festival.

Depardieu appears, along with numerous other stars, as himself in interviews and in footage from various Cannes festivals.

US/UK Status:  Hard to find even in France, to my knowledge this documentary was never released in the US or UK.  Not available on video
